Dave Hoffman and Friends on Sunday at four in the afternoon, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Peoria has inaugurated a new Jazz Vesper service with Dave Hoffman and various friends filling the church with everything from cool to hot jazz in praise of God. Dave doesn’t water anything down, so we hear the best of his art in this service of worship.
Vespers are a very old tradition in the Christian Church. The form is simple with Scripture, Prayers and music … along with a short Homily (sermon). It is a forty minute service, keeping it within the bounds of possibility for even younger children. We hope it will truly become a way to bridge all age groups … worshipping together each week.

Jazz Nights in the Heights at Trailside Event Center, second floor of Trefzger's Bakery, 4416 N. Prospect Road, Peoria Heights.
One afternoon about 2 1/2 yrs. ago, Preston and John ran into each other at Broken Tree Café. In the ensuing conversation, the idea came up to bring guitars up on a Tuesday night and have a little fun for an hour or two and play some music for the patrons. Well, 2 1/2 years later and the fun keeps growing. Between the two guitarists there is about 125 years of guitar experience. The music is spontaneous, unrehearsed, and the guitarists play off each other's ideas. It's always fresh, fun, and the listener may hear anything from Duke Ellington to Ray Charles to Hank Williams, all done with a traditional jazz sensibility. The audience has been very appreciative of the innocence and spontaneity of the Vintage Guitars. The informality creates an atmosphere as if it were in your living room. So, Preston and John invite you to join them, sit back, relax, and have some musical fun.
The Central Illinois Jazz Society House Band will play during the first set, under the leadership of Larry Harms - sax
