Reflections: A Centennial Tribute to Thelonious Monk
At 6:00 ~ 8:30 p.m. (two sets)
Sunday, July 15, 2018
Jazz Nights in the Heights at Trailside Event Center, second floor of Trefzger's Bakery, 4416 N. Prospect Road, Peoria Heights.
Thelonious Monk (1917-1982) is one of the most beloved and delightfully original pianists and composers in jazz history. Monk helped invent modern jazz back in the 1940s, and he would be one hundred years old if he were alive today. The Central Illinois Jazz Society is pleased to present a centennial tribute to Thelonious Monk by devoting the entire concert to his work and memory. Derel Monteith will lead an evening of Monk compositions from the piano and will be joined by Larry Harms on saxophone, Edgar Crockett on trumpet, Nikki Whittaker Malley on vibraphone, Andy Crawford on bass, and Jason Brannon on drums.
