• Dave Hoffman and Friends [details]
Dave Hoffman and Friends on Sunday at four in the afternoon, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Peoria has inaugurated a new Jazz Vesper service with Dave Hoffman and various friends filling the church with everything from cool to hot jazz in praise of God. Dave doesn’t water anything down, so we hear the best of his art in this service of worship.
Vespers are a very old tradition in the Christian Church. The form is simple with Scripture, Prayers and music … along with a short Homily (sermon). It is a forty minute service, keeping it within the bounds of possibility for even younger children. We hope it will truly become a way to bridge all age groups … worshipping together each week.

Sunday, January 22, 2017 The Starting Gate Banquet Room, located in Landmark Recreation Center 3225 N. Dries Lane, Peoria (Parking is available in Landmark lot and across Dries Lane)
Stephanie Aaron is a Peoria native who for the last several years has been living in Chicago and honing her jazz chops, holding steady gigs at clubs and hotels such as Jilly's on Rush Street, the Drake Hotel, Stetson's Chophouse, and Andy's Jazz Club. A performer for most of her life, Stephanie has an acting degree from Bradley University and has participated in dozens of musicals and plays on Central Illinois stages. During a long stint in the radio industry as an on-air personality and host, Stephanie teamed up with Larry Harms on piano and began singing jazz. The duo grew into a trio which held a regular Friday night spot at Martini's on Water Street for years - and then reshaped itself into That Marvelous Quartet, with the addition of Tom Marko on drums and Trefan Owen on guitar. Stephanie and Larry also enjoyed playing with various other personnel throughout this time period, including Kevin Hart, Manny Lopez, Joe Metzka, Billy Cook, Mike Nellas, and many other great area musicians. Stephanie returns often to downstate Illinois to perform for concerts, fundraisers, and private parties, most lately with the Bradley University Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Todd Kelly. She is very pleased to be playing for the Jazz Society once again tonight with Larry Harms on sax, Cory Flanigan on drums, Andy Crawford on bass, and Derel Monteith on keyboards.
The Central Illinois Jazz Society (CIJS) House Band will play during the first set, under the leadership of Larry Harms - sax. The CIJS House Band features outstanding jazz musicians from the area. They will present a mixture of jazz styles. For more information call 692-5330 or visit www.cijs.org. For more information about our location, visit www.landmarkrec.com.
