• Dave Hoffman and Friends [details]
Dave Hoffman and Friends on Sunday at four in the afternoon, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Peoria has inaugurated a new Jazz Vesper service with Dave Hoffman and various friends filling the church with everything from cool to hot jazz in praise of God. Dave doesn’t water anything down, so we hear the best of his art in this service of worship.
Vespers are a very old tradition in the Christian Church. The form is simple with Scripture, Prayers and music … along with a short Homily (sermon). It is a forty minute service, keeping it within the bounds of possibility for even younger children. We hope it will truly become a way to bridge all age groups … worshipping together each week.

The Mark Tonelli Group performs music from creative and unexpected streams. Primarily, the group performs Mark's original music, which has won awards from the Billboard Magazine World Song Contest, USA Songwriting Competition, and The Great American Song Contest. Mark's music is featured on his three records on the MTonal Music label and has been heard on NPR's All Things Considered. The group also performs rock hits that are unlikely candidates for jazz, including the music of Queen, David Bowie, and Tom Petty, finding interesting ways to reinterpret them. In addition, the group performs Jazz: Italian Style, a collection of intriguing songs from 1960's Italian pop radio re-imagined for a 21st century jazz group. You never know what you will hear in a Mark Tonelli Group performance, but you can be sure it will challenge your perceptions and ignite your imagination.
