Dave Hoffman and Friends on Sunday at four in the afternoon, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Peoria has inaugurated a new Jazz Vesper service with Dave Hoffman and various friends filling the church with everything from cool to hot jazz in praise of God. Dave doesn’t water anything down, so we hear the best of his art in this service of worship.
Vespers are a very old tradition in the Christian Church. The form is simple with Scripture, Prayers and music … along with a short Homily (sermon). It is a forty minute service, keeping it within the bounds of possibility for even younger children. We hope it will truly become a way to bridge all age groups … worshipping together each week.

Jazz Nights in the Heights at Trailside Event Center, second floor of Trefzger's Bakery, 4416 N. Prospect Road, Peoria Heights.
John Miller and The Romaniacs perform a “gypsy jazz” style of music and are a very popular group with the Jazz Society attendees. John Miller leads the Romaniacs on guitar and provides interesting narratives about the music and about Django Reinhardt, the composer of many of their tunes. Joining John were Randy Emert on bass, Joe Park on guitar, and Larry Harms on clarinet. We welcomed the Romaniacs and hope they are able to return for a Jazz Society concert.
The Central Illinois Jazz Society (CIJS) House Band will play during the first set, under the leadership of Larry Harms - sax
