Biography
Harold Greene, a devoted husband and father, is a musician: composer, arranger, and instructor, who has played guitar for 25 years. In that time he has performed with the North Carolina Theatre, North Carolina Opera Company, North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony, Eastern Philharmonic Orchestra, East Carolina University Faculty Jazz Group, and the North Carolina Central University Faculty Jazz Ensemble. He has opened for musical acts: Kansas, James Taylor, The Neville Brothers, Little Feat, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Stanley Turrentine, The Branford Marsalis Trio; actor Jeff Foxworthy; and President Bill Clinton. Has entertained the likes of Sir Anthony Hopkins, Halle Berry, Carly Simon, Miss America, Sam Donaldson, and Larry King. He has backed artists such as Billy Davis, Marilyn McCoo, Carol Channing (Hello Dolly), Tiny Tim; Jazz musicians Grady Tate, Carl Allen, James Moody, Slide Hampton, and Ingred Jenson in locations such as Montreux, Switzerland; Vienne, France; and in the U.S.: The White House, Washington, DC; Massachusetts, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, and Illinois. As a clinician and musician he has been involved in The National Guitar Workshop, Eastern Music Festival (Guilford College), Romeo and Juliet, Romulous Hunt, Big River, Secret Garden, Hello Dolly, Dreamgirls, 42nd Street, Carolina Cabaret, The Tap Dance Kid, Briar Patch, West Side Story, Of Mules and Men, Godspell, A Chorus Line, numerous high school and college choral music productions, Brightleaf Music Workshop, Spotlight Cabaret Singers, Sing Out Music Workshop, and Fame (music workshop). In addition to freelance work as a sideman, Mr. Greene has lead and co-lead several groups over the years including a New-Orleans-Funk-Jazz-Rock group, Grady’s Hat, which toured throughout the east coast and released its debut recording “Ridiculous to the Sublime” in 2003- look for myspace.com/gradys39hat. He can currently be seen conducting the Peoria Pops Orchestra, performing locally with his Jazz Trio or leading worship with his worship band GreeneHousEFX.
