| | -I started playing the harmonica at the age of 9 and after going to a high school Junior prom when I was 16 and I decided to buy an alto sax and taught my self to play it (trial and error method)and the other instruments without the benefit of being able to read music or have any professional instruction. In about 6 or 8 months or so, I started playing professionally when I was a Senior in school. I have played in some places with such classy names as, "Bucket of Blood", and the "Sheep's Shed". I have played all kinds of music, admittedly some better than others. I fronted our group as the "House Band" at the "Pere'" mostly in the "Peoria Room"for about 10 years, Black Angus Steak House" the "Top of the Twenty" and Jumer's in Galesburg and Bloomington, plus all of the local "Country Clubs and "Fraternal" organizations. I still enjoy playing but, now it's mostly at "Jamm" sessions at the "Musicians Hall" in Peoria. Our last really good jobs as a group were 120 consecutive "Sunday Brunches" at the "Paradice Hotel" and the "Brighton House"............ |
